I have three daughters two were previous Meadows pupils and my youngest is currently in upper juniors. It has been a pleasure seeing them all flourish and grow enjoying each day attending the school.
As a governor I have contributed to the continuing success of the school helping it to maintain its high standard of education, social development of the children and ensuring it is a safe and fun environment.
I am a practicing optician (optometrist) for the last 25 years working for the NHS and within private practice. This experience has enabled me to gain valuable people skills dealing with both the young and old.
Outside of work I love spending time with my family and I am an active member of the Duffield Tennis Club. I enjoy watching all sports and films if I ever get the free time!

Hi, I’m Anna and I live in the village.  My three children love being at Meadows and I’m keen to play my part in ensuring all children coming through the school, no matter their background or abilities, have an equally enjoyable and enriching experience.  I hope the skills I’ve developed working in Human Resources will be put to good use to support and strengthen the school in my role as a parent governor.

Hello, my name is Emma, I have lived in Duffield for over 20 years and I am keen to support the local community. I am the headteacher of an infant school in Ilkeston where I have been for nearly 8 years. I qualified as a teacher in 2001 and although started my career in the Juniors I have worked with the younger children, especially Key Stage 1 for most of my time in school. I am very passionate about children getting the best education and start at school and I hope my experience, knowledge and skills can help the wonderful team at Duffield Meadows. You may spot me around Duffield walking my dog, Doris!

I live in the village, having grown up in Derbyshire but only recently moving back after 20 years spent in Edinburgh, London and working abroad.  Returning has reminded me of the value a great local community brings.

I’m proud to support Meadows in providing opportunities to all children, in a fun and safe setting during their hugely important informative years.  I hope to play my part in setting them up to become whoever and whatever they set their sights and ambition on in the future.

I believe my experience as a management consultant, working with corporates on their people strategy (diversity, equity and inclusion, leadership development, performance management and adapting to change) will also be useful in supporting the overall development, wellbeing and achievements of the staff who work so hard for the school.

I love almost all sports, live music, the outdoors, my husband John, our dog and our two sons – the oldest of whom started at Meadows in 2022.

I am a proud Dad to a current Meadows pupil, and a doctor working with older people in the local community.  As a past governor of a large NHS Trust and chair of trustees for a mental health charity, I have experience in senior roles at organisations supporting local people.  They taught me a lot about how much the early years at school matter for children’s wellbeing throughout their lives.  I was delighted to be elected as a Parent Governor in 2019, and two years later I am still enjoying the privilege of being part of Team Meadows, learning new things all the time.  I try to bring my experience to the governing body as we oversee and support the complex business of running a school, so that the headteacher and her staff can continue to provide the fantastic, rounded and supportive education that Meadows gives our children.  As a member of the Resources Committee I have a particular interest in health & safety within school.

Outside of work I am interested in developments in green technology, especially around transport, and enjoy ambling around the countryside and trying to tame the wilderness in my garden.

My family and I have lived locally for 7 years and enjoy being part of a supportive community.

I have a step-daughter in further education and my son is a pupil at Duffield Meadows School, so I was really pleased to have been appointed as a parent governor in 2022.  I’ve always had a keen interest in our education system and becoming a mum made this a priority for me.

I’ve worked in Senior roles as a Mental Health Nurse for 23 years across two large NHS Trusts and I hope that some of my experience will benefit the parent governor role. I am really keen to learn more and support everyone involved in the school in achieving the best outcomes for our children.
